Horses/Equine for SaleFor Sale: Ria is a Percheron/Arab cross with 80+ days with a John Lyons certified trainer. She is 5 years old, and she currently stands 15.3 hands (and is still growing/filling out), bay with two white socks and face stripe. She round pens with inside & outside turns and faces up. Fine to groom, cross tie, load, bathe. My horses stay turned out 24/7, so I do not clip them. No stable vices, GREAT feet, rarely need trimming as they wear very correctly. Easy keeper. No history of colic, founder, lameness, etc. Current on teeth, worming and vaccinations. Last fall I had two, debilitating injuries; hubby then had surgery with complications so Ria has not been ridden since late October --it was a long, hard winter. I have reduced her price (reflected below). It does not cover what I paid for her nor the money I have in the John Lyon's trainer. I do have pictures of her that I can happily send. She is still doing well with groundwork and does not seem to have forgotten anything. NO health issues. Barefoot with natural trim. She is NOT "mare-y". She has a super soft mouth and is not stiff necked or sluggish. Her gaits are her best feature: the walk is long and even and the trot is a nice pace, especially for a green horse and steady. She overreaches at the walk by at least 8 inches, just walking on light contact and not fully engaged. Her canter is smooth but fast, just as one would expect in a horse with less than 90 days of training. She WANTS to travel very round and will drop her head and round without any cues, but is still too green to maintain the frame. Ria has logged time in indoor and outdoor arenas as well as out on the pavement and solo as well as with other horses. Has also been ground driven and hopped over small jumps. Get along well in the herd. Very scopy with plenty of strength and stamina. Nice hock action, smooth, ground covering gaits. Goes quietly in an egg butt snaffle. She has started learning the Parelli 7 games (I am a Parelli Level 3 student). She has been harnessed and has pulled light logs as well as a chain drag but I would not label her as "started in harness." In my opinion Ria would be well suited for Combined Training, Foxhunting, Distance (great for full figured rider), Combined Driving, Ranch Horse or Feedlot work. Her dam was short (about 15.1) and crossed with the Arab, I had hoped for a short fat cob for driving. Instead she is long, leggy (but with a very nice neck) and just too dang big for my tastes. Due to her endurance factor (dam was bred to work all day and sire was bred to zing over sand daylight `til dark) she needs more riding than I can provide at this point in my life and she's just too dang big; my harness, carts nor bridle fit her. She is kind and willing but still uncertain. Ria needs an experienced rider with quiet hands and the time to devote to her. While she has had professional training, this horse IS green and I do not feel she is suited to a child or young teen. Located an hour east of Nashville, TN. She is priced at only $900, firm. Possible delivery (fee) within 250 miles. Jenny
